“what’s one belief you changed your mind about in the past year?"
I used to think if given the chance to take an immortality pill, I wouldn't take it. I didn't want to be live on forever. However, I've changed my mind over the last year. I now think I will.
"what sparked the change?" These are all hypothetical musings still but I realized there will be ways to move on even after said pill, if one were to choose to do so. Human lifespan seems incredibly short on a universal time scale and there's no reason for it to remain so. Longer, potentially infinite, lives are inevitable and moving on will become a choice rather than a necessity.
"and how has it influenced your perspective?” Made me more optimistic. Feels like humanity is just getting started. I am still pessimistic on the timeline of hitting this milestone i.e. I don't think it will necessarily happen during our lifetimes (hype cycles underestimate the trough of disillusion). However, I do think that given time, we will hit infinite lifespan.
“why are ‘longer, potentially infinite lives inevitable’?”
